At VAMC 1, surgical teams have maintained impressive compliance rates: 

• Briefing Compliance: Increased from 96% (2020-2023) to 98% (2024-2025) 
• Time Out Compliance: Increased from 98% to 99% 
• Debriefing Compliance: Increased from 96% to 98%

• Time Out compliance increased from 68% in Year 1 to 97% in Year 4 
• Debriefing compliance rose from 51% to 95% over the same period 
• First Case On-Time Starts (FCOS) improved from 51% to 79% in just three years 
• Median turnover time decreased from 45 to 33 minutes 

Similar trends were observed with the other four VAMCs, with notable increases in FCOS percentages and reductions in turnover times, which are both critical indicators of operating room (OR) efficiency.

• Block utilization increased to 65.6% by Year 5 
• Accurate case scheduling improved from 36% to 59% 
• Turnover time reduced from 40 to 30 minutes
